Lubbock is an American city situated in the state of Texas and located in the northwestern region. It exhibits western culture, wineries, Big XII sports and very warm, co-operative and friendly people.
Lubbock is considered as one of the largest cities of Texas with a population of around 200,000. Lubbock is a town which formed due to the merge of two towns Old Lubbock and Monterey. It was named after Colonel Thomas S. Lubbock who was the ranger of the state.
With the boom in agricultural sector, Lubbock made great entry in the cotton industry. Initially the Lubbock produced only 4 bales of cotton in 1902 to over 100,000 bales in 1932. But now, it is producing around two to three million bales of cotton a year.
Lubbock is a fun and exciting city with very vibrant nightlife which you can find around the Despot District. It accommodates various historic buildings like the Buddy Holly Center and is the proud venue of many live music, stage shows, sports and cigar bars and restaurants.
The climate of Lubbock remains warm and quite pleasant all year round.
